Applications submitted for Chicken restaurant and Coffee shop/ Bakery in Leek

A Planning proposal for two new units on broad street Leek has been submitted to Staffordshire Moorlands district council.

The proposal states that one unit would be used as a coffee shop/ bakery with the larger unit used as a restaurant and take away serving chicken focused products.

The planning application states:

“The proposals would see the redevelopment a vacant, previously developed site located on the edge of Leek Town Centre. The proposed building will comprise two separate units.

The smaller unit is proposed as a coffee shop/bakery. The coffee shop/bakery will provide food and drink on-the-go such as breakfasts items, savoury pastries and pizza slices, hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and pasta, sweet treats, hot food, and other ancillary items. In addition to the shop floor, there will be back of house space for storing, preparing, and baking goods and staff facilities.

The larger unit is proposed to be a hot food takeaway with dine-in facilities (restaurant). The restaurant will include several covers and provide quick, reasonably priced food throughout the day and evening, focussing on chicken products. The restaurant will not serve alcoholic drinks and the average dining time is expected to be relatively short. There will be back of house space for storing, preparing, and cooking goods and staff facilities. The unit will also have a window on the front elevation to collect home deliveries.

The associated works include a new car park to serve the two units; 23 parking spaces are proposed, including two accessible bays. In addition, three staff parking spaces are to be provided at the rear of the units.”
