British Empire Medals awarded to Staffordshire residents
Six Staffordshire residents have been awarded prestigious personal Honours by His Majesty the King for their contributions to their local communities.
The winners were announced in the 2024 New Year’s Honours lists and include:
Michael John Allen MBE - For services to the Community in Staffordshire
Elaine Hutchings BEM – For services to the community in Lichfield during covid-19
Herbert Proctor BEM - For services to the community of Audley
Martin Peter Wild BEM - For services to the community of Tamworth
Cllr Roger Lees BEM JP - For services to the communities in Himley, Swindon, and South Staffordshire
Kim Lorraine Smith BEM - For services to the community in Winshill
Medals were presented to the recipients by the Lord-Lieutenant, Mr Ian Dudson CBE KStJ on behalf of His Majesty the King at a ceremony at County Buildings in Stafford on Thursday 25 April.
Mr Dudson said: "The British Empire Medal is now fully re-established as a significant and much-admired part of our Honours system, often uniquely recognising voluntary contributions at a very local community level.
“I am delighted that we have another six Staffordshire residents who have been awarded Personal Honours. Their wonderful contributions have been recognised accordingly and I am privileged to have presented their Medals on behalf of His Majesty the King.”
