ENGLAND gained a comfortable 4-0 victory at the Ta' Qali National Stadium against Malta in Group C on Friday night.


An Apap on goal on 8 minutes gave the Lions the lead and Trent Alexander-Arnold scored the second in the 28th minute with Harry Kane scoring the visitors third goal from the penalty spot on 31 minutes. Calum Wilson rounded the goal scoring off with a penalty in the 83rd minute.


It was a disappointing night for Wales in Group D at the Cardiff City Stadium as they lost 4-2 to Armenia.


James put the home side in front on 10 minutes but Zelarayan equalised for Armenia on 19 minutes with Mamedova putting the visitors in front in the 30th minute. Mamedova got his second of the game on 66 minutes to put the vistors ahead 3-1, but Wales pulled one back with Wilson scoring on 72 minutes. Armenia were not finished though and Zelarayan scored his second of the match on 75 minutes to put the viitors in front 4-2. Moore received a red card for Wales on 78 minutes.


Northern Ireland lost to Denmark by a solitary goal at the Telia Parken in Group H.


Wind got the all important goal on 47 minutes as the Danes held out for the victory.


Greece beat the Republic of Ireland in Group B 2-1 at the Opap Arena.


The home side went in front on 15 minutes with a penalty from Bakasetas before Ireland equalised on 27 minutes from Collins. Early in the second half Masouras got the winner on 49 minutes as the visitors were unable to find a way back into the game. Ireland's Doherty saw red as he was sent off in the 95th minute.
