Firefighters extinguish fire at derelict building

We have extinguished a fire at a derelict building in the Middleport area of Stoke-on-Trent.

Crews from Sandyford and Hanley went to Newport Lane just before 10.30am this morning (Monday 18 March).

A hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire before 11am and a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear excess smoke from the building.

No one was injured.

Fire investigators later deemed the cause of the fire to be deliberate.

The incident has been left with Staffordshire Police.
