LOVELY LADIES KNITTING & NATTERING
FOR THE UKRAINE
Amazing that this group has produced over 4,000 (yes – four thousand!) Comfort Teddy Bears to help children in traumatic situations and now have turned their good works to kitting special bears for the kids of the Ukraine.
Great that the Werrington Knit & Natter Group is back in action in the library with needles clinking. This really is a fun session every Wednesday morning and there is always a mouth-watering selection of cakes to enjoy. The ladies do not shout about what they do but just take pleasure in each other's company, have a laugh, and enjoy a nice morning doing good.
It sounds remarkable but they have produced over 4,000 Comfort Teddies for PCSO Ashley Goodwin to use with his colleagues to give to children in traumatic situations, they are also used by Fire & Rescue, and there is more as they knit them for Cheetham’s Ward and Refuges.
And that’s not all as their good works go on and on - such as knitting Blankets, Hats and Pads for the Premature Baby Unit - and then there are the Poppies which they knit to sell to raise funds for the Royal British Legion. They also knit and sell baby clothes to raise funds for the Library Wellbeing Centre and Scotty's Little Soldiers who look after the children of the fallen.
NEW UKRAINE TEDDIES
The ladies have also been hard at work knitting Teddies for the children of the Ukraine and our photograph shows part of the first batch to be sent and further supplies will soon be on the way.
What a wonderful record and it all happens in Werrington. Lovely folk and wonderful achievements . . . and the Lemon Drizzle Cake is pretty good too!
