Leek family fun day cancelled

Leek town council have announced that they have cancelled the family funday tomorrow.

The event was meant to take place in leek town centre and feature live music and circus skills.

The free event organised by Leek town council has been cancelled because of forecasted poor weather the town council have said.

The met office have issued a yellow weather warning from 12:00 on Saturday until 10PM for areas of the country including Leek

Matt Swindlehurst chair of leek town council events coming said

”Due to the forecast of heavy rain and possible thunder throughout the day, the events sub committee of Leek Town Council has made the regrettable decision to postpone tomorrow's planned town centre Fun Day. Such weather has the potential to compromise both the safety of the performers, and the staging of live music in an outdoors setting.

We hope to host the event next month, on Saturday September 18th to coincide with the monthly Farmer's Market.”
