Play Day in Congleton Town Centre
On Tuesday 15 August, Congleton Town Centre will be hosting another Play Day in the pedestrian area from 10am-2pm. The day is based on the National Play Day which is taking place all over the country in August and is a celebration of children’s right to play, highlighting the importance of play and fun in children’s lives.
Event organiser, Jo Money, Congleton Community Projects said: “We’ve got a fantastic day lined up with exciting activities for all the family. It’s completely free to attend, just turn up and join in the fun. Pedestrian area activities will include a circus skills workshop, giant Connex and other board games which have been kindly lent by Bromley Farm Community Centre. There will be general arts and crafts activities for active minds organised by the Electric Picture House, a children’s book swop, Jo-anne Bayley School of Dance will be offering fitness dance classes, the library will be offering Rhyme Time at 11am, and Ruby’s Fund mobile soft play van will also be in attendance. Kids can also do dressing up and have a go at some ancient games with the Museum stall.”
Play opportunities don’t need to involve expensive activities, costly toys, or trips to far-off destinations. It is often the simplest ideas, the free and found opportunities, which offer the most fun, and are the most developmentally beneficial for children and young people.
This free event is being organised by Congleton Community Projects supported by Congleton Town Council, Congleton Partnership and Congleton Inclosure Trust.
