Recycled bedding plants available for community projects

Local community groups are being offered the chance to boost their flower displays with recycled bedding plants from across Congleton.

Winter bedding plants are due to be replaced with summer blooms, across Congleton Town Council owned parks and floral areas later this month. Rather than throwing away the winter plants, any community groups that need extra plants for their projects can snap up a free supply. Congleton groups that are welcome to apply for the recycled plants include park friends groups, resident associations, care homes, children’s nurseries and In Your Neighbourhood Groups. Recycled plants on offer include polyanthus and bellis, and will be given to groups on a first come first served basis.

Congleton Town Councillor and Chair of Congleton in Bloom, Cllr David Brown said: “We will shortly be updating the towns floral displays with summer plants, ready for the national Britain in Bloom finals this Summer. We don’t want our winter bedding plants to go to waste, so we’re keen to get our local community groups replanting them in their displays, giving their local area a green and colourful boost.”

Groups who would like to register for this opportunity should contact the Congleton Information Centre on: 01260 270350 or info@congleton-tc.gov.uk
