Stoke-on-Trent tyre fire started deliberately



A fire involving a large number of tyres in Stoke-on-Trent is thought to have been started deliberately.


Crews from Sandyford and Newcastle were called out to the fire in a yard on Chemical Lane in Longport at around 8.25am yesterday morning (Tuesday).


While the fire was extinguished nearby residents were asked to keep their windows and doors closed. Firefighters remained at the scene until 10.30am.


It is believed the fire – which involved around a hundred tyres - was started deliberately and the matter has been reported to Staffordshire Police.
