ACES BEWLEY GOING FOR HAT-TRICK OF BRITISH TITLES
BELLE Vue’s Dan Bewley is targeting a hat trick of British titles on Saturday, June 8 when the 2024 Attis Insurance British Final arrives at the National Speedway Stadium.
The World No.7 has dominated the competition for the last two years, collecting his first crown in 2022 before following up in fine style last year to make it back-to-back wins.
This year’s line-up will be one of the most challenging in recent memory, however, after news that Britain’s two other Grand Prix stars – Robert Lambert and Tai Woffinden – joined the field.
Woffinden, a three-time world champion, returned to British Speedway full-time this year after making his last appearance on these shores with Wolverhampton in 2016.
He stamped his authority all over this event between 2013-2015, being the last rider to successfully defend his British crown for three consecutive years.
Lambert, meanwhile, claimed his first national title back in 2018 but since then has made only rare appearances in Britain, opting out of full time racing here in 2020.
The rest of the line-up is equally strong, with almost every club represented as well as a whole host of former British champions looking to add their name to the historic trophy.
Chris Harris, Craig Cook, Charles Wright, Adam Ellis and Rory Schlein all know what it takes to be best of British, and Dan Bewley is relishing the challenge of having the target on his back.
He said: “Winning the British championship for the second time was such a thrill and it would be cool to do it for a third time, but it’s going to be a tough night for all of us.
“I’m ok with being the guy with the target on his back. It motivates me to be even better than before but anything can happen and there’s 15 other guys who are capable of winning.”
Belle Vue CEO Mark Lemon added: “It’s always an honour for us to host the British Final and we’ve very excited to bring this brilliant meeting to Manchester on a Saturday night this year.
“Just looking at the calibre of rider, the sheer number of British titles this field has between them is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before and it guarantees we’ll be in for a great night.”
