ALSAGER APPOINT GODDARD
Alsager Town have appointed the vastly experienced Luke Goddard as new first team manager to replace the departed Dean Jones and Dom Johnson.
Luke has spent many years in the game and will always be remembered for his remarkable spell at Whitchurch Alport who he took to Step 5 while completely reinvigorating the club.
The Bullets' committee was greatly impressed by Luke's vision and enthusiasm, and his desire to take the club forward.
Luke will be joined at Wood Park by Jack Turner and Kevin Street with further appointments confirmed in due course.
“It’s exciting to have agreed to lead Alsager Town into its next era and the journey we will create. Naturally some may be surprised in our decision to come back into Step 6, however we felt the timing, location and circumstances would be an ideal fit as well as of course the huge challenge ahead which involves a complete rebuild of a squad. There is a lot of work to do but this is a traditional non-league club ran by a small core of mainly retired local volunteers who love the club. I’ve promised Terry (chairman) for years that one day I’d come to help create a journey here, so the timing is right for us all and we will be huge underdogs in a tough competitive division again but I guarantee together we shall attack this head on to build an exciting journey.”
Bullets chairman Terry Greer said, "I'm delighted that we have managed to secure the services of Luke and his team. Everyone knows what a brilliant job he did at Whitchurch, and so it's a real coup for Alsager Town. We're all looking forward to working with him, and seeing what we can build."
