Appeal after collision leaves man with life-threatening head injuries

Officers are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a serious collision in Rushton Spencer yesterday (Sunday 1 May) resulted in a man sustaining life-threatening head injuries.

Police were called at 3.55pm on Sunday to the A523, Rushton Spencer, following reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

Officers attended as did paramedics and the air ambulance.

Upon arrival, officers found a grey Audi A3 involved in a collision with a man in his 20s.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is assisting officers with their inquiries.

According to witnesses, a black Volkswagen Golf was also seen travelling at time of the collision on the A523.

The victim was taken to hospital by air ambulance with life-threatening head injuries.

He remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Sergeant Richard Moors, of Staffordshire Police’s Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened and who may be able to help us understand the circumstances in the lead up to the collision.

"Anyone who may have footage of the scene prior to the crash is asked to contact us.”
