Officers are appealing for information following reports of an assault that took place outside the Crown & Cushion, High Street, Biddulph, at around 1.45am on November 20.
It is reported the victim, following the assault, made his way along Tunstall Road and collapsed. The man received facial injuries. He was treated at the scene by ambulance staff and was taken to hospital where he remains. He is in a critical but stable condition.
A 26-year-old man, from Biddulph, was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. He has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
