THE 2023 ‘Sports’ Insure British Final is back at Manchester’s National Speedway Stadium on Monday, August 14 for an eighth consecutive season with another star-studded line-up.
Since the event moved to Belle Vue in 2016 seven different winners have been crowned the British Champion, with this year set to be another wide-open competition.
Seven current and former title holders, with a combined nine championship wins between them, take to the shale in Manchester including reigning British Champion and GP star Dan Bewley.
And nine current and former Belle Vue Aces riders form the bulk of the 2023 line-up, including 2022 Premiership title winners Charles Wright and Tom Brennan.
A bumper crowd is expected at the National Speedway Stadium, with the winner also scooping the coveted wild card spot at the British Grand Prix in Cardiff on September 2.
2019 British champion Charles Wright said: “The British Final is always a big event. It was an amazing feeling to win it before and all 16 riders want to get that championship under their belt.
“I think, since that win, I perhaps have been putting too much pressure on myself every year it comes around so this year I want to avoid doing that and just go out there and enjoy the meeting.”
Current British No.2 Tom Brennan said: “I’m really looking forward to it. Both times I've been a part of this meeting it it's gone well so hopefully I can continue to improve on that form this year.
“I’ve been watching the British Final since I was a little kid and to even just be included in the 16 is a big achievement for me, and to stand on the podium last year was fantastic.”
Reigning British Champion Dan Bewley added: “It was an awesome feeling to win last year. It was my first senior solo British title and it was cool to tick it off.
“I had a lot of fun in last week’s meeting at Belle Vue, I found some good speed but this is an event that everyone enjoys and all the boys are raring to go so I think it’ll be a good one.”
The 2023 Sports Insure British Final takes place this Monday, August 14 at the National Speedway Stadium at 7:30pm and live on Eurosport and discovery+.
Please note, south stand parking is now sold out. Parking at St. Peter’s School will be available on the day at £3 on a first come, first served basis. Car park opens at 5:30pm.
