Cheddleton Couple tie the knot at Royal Stoke emergency department
Amanda Littleton and David Reader got married yesterday afternoon at Royal Stoke’s Emergency Department.
Staff from across the department went above and beyond for Amanda and David, organising their big day in less than two hours.
Amanda, 58, who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, tied the knot with partner David, 54, surrounded by close family, colleagues and neighbours.
Staff transformed a side room into a space fit for a wedding, complete with banners, cake and fizz.
The couple from Cheddleton have been together 18 years this month.
David said: “We never thought that today would happen but we’ve all got here. We’re so grateful to everybody here today, the staff have totally outdone themselves.”
Claire Tooth, Emergency Department Matron added: “Staff from across the department rallied round to make Amanda and David’s big day possible in just a matter of hours. This is only the third wedding we’ve had in the department so we wanted to pull out all the stops to make it as special and memorable as possible.”
