Community Get Together’ to take place in Stoke
The NHS in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent is inviting people to a Community Get Together, which supports health and wellbeing and offers a warm space to get together.
The Community Get Together sees organisations including the NHS COVID-19 and flu vaccination team, Citizen’s Advice Bureau, Saltbox and Beat The Cold, coming together to provide advice and information in an informal setting.
The Community Get Together is taking place at the YMCA in Hanley on Thursday 9 February between 10:30am and 4:30pm, and is being organised by the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent NHS Targeted Vaccination Team (TVT). Emma Holmes from the TVT said: “We wanted to bring lots of organisations that can help and support local people together in one place so that people can access services and advice closer to home. The Community Get Together also offers a place to meet with friends and members of the wider community.
“Come along to talk to health and other professionals who can advise, listen and help with any questions you may have been wanting to ask – or just have a cup of tea, something to eat and a chat with a friend. Everyone is welcome.”
COVID-19 vaccinations will be available for eligible people over the age of 12 (under 16’s must be accompanied by a consenting adult). Flu vaccinations are available for those eligible over 18 to top up their immunity, and free hot drinks and soup will be on offer. A number of food packages have been donated by the YMCA Pantry and will be available for those who need them.
