Congleton in Bloom has once again demonstrated its commitment to horticultural excellence and community engagement by earning top honours at the RHS Britain In Bloom North West Finals. The town scooped ‘gold’ in the Best Large Town category.

The accolades continued at today’s ceremony with Congleton Park picking up a prestigious ‘gold’ in the Large Park (LA) Category and Congleton receiving a Special Recognition Award – ‘Pride of Cheshire East’ for the groups outstanding commitment and dedication.

Members of the in Bloom team attended the awards ceremony at Bolton Stadium to hear first hand of their successes. Cllr David Brown, who chairs Congleton in Bloom said: “On behalf of the group, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all those who have contributed to these fantasticachievements. The remarkable results are a testament to the hard work, passion, and dedication of the entire team, including all the volunteers, groups, organisations, businesses, Streetscape gardeners, schools and trusts that supported us.Their unwavering commitment to creating a beautiful and welcoming environment for the community has once again been acknowledged and celebrated.

The ‘gold’ medal for Best Large Town represents a remarkable milestone for Congleton, we are absolutely delighted and honoured to take home this coveted award. That’s the 16th consecutive year of ‘gold’ status. This accolade only further validates how wonderful our town is. Congleton was pipped by Altrincham who were crowned overall winner. Congleton Park has once again shone brightly on the horticultural stage, clinching a well deserving ‘gold’. The park's breathtaking beauty and outstanding floral displays have not only earned the admiration of the local community but also earned the recognition it deserves on a regional scale.

The Special Recognition Award further highlights the exceptional and outstanding work done by the group, without their combined efforts, the ‘Pride of Cheshire East Award’ would not have been possible.”

Congleton’s 12 ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood Groups’ (IYN) are still celebrating their epic results in the North West In Bloom awards. They were awarded with nine level 5s (Outstanding) two Level 4s (equivalent to Silver Gilt) and one Level 3 (equivalent to Silver). The volunteers have tirelessly contributed their time, energy and expertise in nurturing and maintaining the beautiful floral arrangements.

Over the past two decades, Congleton has had amazing success in regional and national RHS In Bloom competitions scooping 22 gold medals for its horticultural excellence, community involvement and environmental responsibility. Congleton has represented the North West in the national large town finals in 2001, 2007, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2022, winning 4 gold medals. Congleton would have been a finalist in 2020 if COVID-19 hadn’t caused the competition to be postponed.
