Congleton Museum and Congleton Pride prepares for'OUR STORY Pride of Place'

Churnet sound news

Congleton Museum in collaboration with Congleton Pride are putting the final touches on their special exhibition in celebration of LGBT History Month, to be held at Congleton Museum beginning February 1st 2024.

The "OUR STORY - Pride of Place" exhibition is an exploration of identity, belonging, and the myriad experiences that define the journey of the LGBTQIA+ community. It is a chapter of the larger narrative, 'Our Story', a collaborative project between the Museum and Congleton Pride.

This unique exhibition will showcase the diverse and rich tapestry of the community’s stories, experiences and expressions.

Ronan Clayton, Trustee and Founder of Congleton Pride, said “We have been developing beyond our big annual event into a movement that supports the community all year round. It is a natural extension of this to ensure the stories of the community are told in an impactful way and embedded into our local history. We are delighted to be working with Congleton Museum on this exciting project.”

Local artists, especially those from the LGBTQIA+ community, have submitted their works for the exhibition that reflect the creativity, passion, and stories of the community.

The exhibition will run at the museum until the 17th of February and include visits by artists, and learning workshops.
