COONEY PENS TWO YEAR DEAL

Crewe Alexandra have signed defender Ryan Cooney.

The 23-year-old right-back has penned a two-year-deal at Mornflake Stadium after leaving Morecambe earlier this summer.

Cooney came through the youth ranks at Bury, and played a part in their promotion from League Two in 2018-19.

He was signed by Burnley in 2019 and became part of the Premier League side’s first-team squad before being loaned to Morecambe in January 2020.

There, he made 46 appearances as the Shrimpers won promotion from the fourth tier in 2021. He now has a total of 157 outings and two goals under his belt, after two campaigns in League One.
