ree

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has set out its aims and priorities for the next four years in its Corporate Plan.

As agreed by the full Council, the Corporate Plan 2023 – 2027 will deliver the  Council’s vision: ‘Achieving excellence in the delivery of high-quality services that meet the needs and aspirations of our communities.’

“We are ambitious for the District and so are our residents,” said Council Leader, Councillor Mike Gledhill.

“Moorlanders want good-quality and affordable homes, safe communities, better local transport and support against increased costs of living, as well as action to tackle the climate and nature emergencies.

“They deserve high-standard services delivered by an aspirational council which responds to their needs.

“The hard work starts now; together with our partners and the community we will deliver on these priorities over the next four years and ensure that the Moorlands is a vibrant and growing place where people choose to live, work and play.”

The four Plan Aims are to:

  • Help create a safer and healthier environment for our communities to live and work- increased supply of good quality homes; provision of sports facilities and leisure opportunities focussed on improving health; enhance the distinctive cultural, creativity and heritage of the District; improve residents’ access to benefits and financial support.

  • Use resources effectively and provide value for money - effective use of financial and other resources to ensure value for money; ‘right first time’ services available to all residents using appropriate channels; effective procurement with a focus on local businesses.

  • Help create a strong economy by supporting further regeneration of towns and villages - encourage business growth including start-ups; flourishing town centres that support the local economy; ‘open for business’ approach; encourage and develop tourism.

  • Protect and improve the environment - effective recycling and waste management; meeting the challenges of climate change; provision of high quality public amenities, parks an open spaces; car parking that meets the needs of residents, businesses and visitors.
