Council warns of Scam impersonating council official

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council is warning residents about a scam regarding council tax where cold callers are impersonating employees from Staffordshire Moorlands district council. A spokesperson for The District council said "We're aware that someone claiming to be employed by the Council has been contacting residents by phone to say their Council Tax account is in credit and asking for bank/card details.
