Crews attend fire involving microwave

Churnet sound news

We were called to an address near America Street in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, just after 6pm yesterday (16 January), following reports of a fire.

Crews from Hanley and Sandyford went to the scene. The fire was out on arrival and firefighters ventilated the building to clear excess smoke.

The fire was later deemed to be caused by a cooker hob that was accidentally turned on. A new microwave, which was still in a box, was on top of the hob and caught fire as a result.

A man, who was inside the home, was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Crews left the scene just after 6.40pm.
