DEVELOPMENT PLAYER ROBERTS SIGNS
CREWE Alexandra have announced the signing of development player Fin Roberts.
The 18-year-old attacker, who spent time at Crystal Palace as a youth, has penned a two-year deal with an option for a further 12 months.
Roberts, who was also on the books at Bromley, caught the eye of Alex scouts when playing for Beckenham Town in the Isthmian League, where he was top scorer last term.
Josh Kennard, Head of Recruitment, said: “This Club has a proud history of spotting talented players lower down the pyramid and helping them to develop their game.
“That’s something I want us to do more of in the future, so I’m really pleased that we have been able to sign Fin as a first-year professional.
“We have the coaches and the facilities to improve young footballers, and the courage to give them opportunities in the first team once they are earned, so this is another way we can play to our strengths as a Club.
“We watched Fin play on numerous occasions, and he is an exciting prospect.
“He is athletic and quick, and can play anywhere across the front. He is direct and likes to run at defenders and I’m confident that, given time and support, he can flourish at Crewe Alexandra. I’m really looking forward to watching his journey.”
Roberts is the son of former Millwall, Palace and Wimbledon midfielder Andy Roberts.
He will be part of Mike Jackson’s Under-21s squad, and will report to full-time training with the rest of the Alex players on July 1.
Everybody at Crewe Alexandra would like to welcome Fin and wish him the best of luck for the future.
