Firefighters extinguish flat fire

We extinguished a flat fire in Biddulph at the weekend.

Crews from Biddulph, Hanley, Leek, Longton, Newcastle and Sandyford went to a flat on Lucerne Road just after 4.30pm on Saturday (2 March) and found it well-alight.

Hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire and residents living in nearby flats close to the fire were evacuated.

A woman was taken to hospital by West Midlands Ambulance Service for precautionary checks.

Three people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Fire investigators are working with Staffordshire Police to determine the cause of the fire.
