FOOTBALL LEAGUE ROUND-UP
CREWE Alexandra had the best weekend of the local sides with a 3-2 victory over Doncaster Rovers at the Mornflake Stadium on Saturday.
The railwaymen went behind early on as Rovers opened the scoring on 16 minutes with a goal from Faal, the Alex though were on level terms on 29 minutes as Offord netted and then they went ahead just before the break as O'Riordan neeted the first of his two goals.
Rovers equalised on 57 minutes as Ironside netted to make it 2-2 but the home side got the all important winner in the second minutes of added on time as O'Riordan scored his second of the game and gave Crewe all three points with his goal on 92 minutes.
The result leaves the Alex in fourth place in the league two table. Attendance 4,263.
PORT Vale suffered defeat at the hands of Shrewsbury Town in league one on Saturday at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.
Town went 2-0 up with goals from Mata on 28 minutes and D Udoh on 48 minutes before the Valiants replied on 57 minutes as Garrity pulled a goal back but, it wasn't enough for the visitors as Shrewsbury held on for the victory.
The result leaves Vale in 19th place in the league one table. Attendance: 7,429
STOKE City slumped to a disappointing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Blackburn Rovers at the BET365 Stadium on Saturday.
City were behind after just four minutes as Wharton netted for the visitors while Rovers sealed the points with Moran netting on 86 minutes while Szmodics netted the third on 91 minutes.
The result leaves City in 16th place in the Championship. Attendance: 22,652
