Heritage railway cancels trains due to medical incident in Cheddleton


The Churnet Valley Railway were forced to cancel the days worth of train services on Wednesday after a man was confirmed dead at an address off Station road, Cheddleton.


On Wednesday morning the railway said:

“Due to an ongoing Police incident unconnected with the railway we will not be able to operate trains today. Anyone booked to travel with us today will be contacted by our staff to make alternative arrangements.”


Emergency services attended and address off Station road in Cheddleton for a medical incident which was not connected to the railway at just after 6:30am on Wednesday morning.

A man was confirmed dead at the scene.



A WMAS spokesperson said:


“We were called to a medical incident at an address off Station Road in Cheddleton, Leek, just after 6.35am. Three ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a male patient. Sadly, it quickly became apparent that the man could not be saved and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
