How and where to celebrate the Jubilee in The Staffordshire Moorlands
As the Queens platinum jubilee gets closer a number of events are taking place across the Staffordshire Moorlands. We’ve made a list of events so you can find them easily.
Biddulph youth and community zone are hosting a jubilee street party in their community garden on Friday 3rd of June. There will be bouncy castles,music, arts and crafts and a kids disco between 12-3
Cheadle will be hosting a high street party which will include charity stalls and activities along the high street between 2pm and 6pm on Friday June 3rd. Classic cars and scooters will be on hand as part of the event with local food and drink stalls available along with outdoor seating
On the 2nd of June as a joint venture between the Village Hall and Parish Council, they are having a Pie and Pea Supper on the Thursday with a Royal Quiz and Beacon Lighting and a toast to Her Majesty. On Friday the Village Hall committee is holding a Jubilee Bingo.
Ipstones is hosting a number of events from the 2nd of June. The main events on Friday and Saturday will take place at Ipstones Memorial Hall. Events planned for the community include: – Commencing the celebrations with the lighting of a Beacon on Thursday 2nd June. A parade through the village on the 4th June to the Memorial Hall where the main events are taking place. A display of Coronation Memorabilia and Crafts by local people including children Friday and Saturday afternoon. Musical Entertainment on the Saturday from 2 p.m. Family fun and games on Friday and Saturday afternoon Children’s Treasure Hunt – over the weekend Best decorated Jubilee themed house or garden Treat boxes for the Housebound There will be refreshments available at the local Church and Methodist Church The local Church will be decorated in red/blue and white hand made flowers The main events will take place on the Friday 3 June and Saturday 4 June
On Saturday 4th June Rudyard lake league of friends will be celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee at Rudyard Lake. There will be a marquee on the dam and live music by Major Feelgood from lunch to 4:30-5pm. Please bring your own picnic/refreshments or use the cafe which will be open. They are also hoping Lakeside donkeys will be at the lake for donkey rides. Trip boat rides and rowing boat hire will be available.
The Wincle community are hosting a lunch in a field in Wincle on June 4th. it will be bring your own food and drink although there will be beer available from Wincle Brewery across the road. There will be music and singing and the donations from the event will go towards planting a commemorative tree.
Staffordshire libraries are encouraging people to join the Big Jubilee Read and borrow one of the 70 titles chosen as part of the project.
On the Sunday of The Platinum Jubilee weekend, Leek Town Council will be hosting the party in the park in Brough Park. The bandstand will be the venue for a whole range of bands, celebrating the town’s live music scene over the decades. John Collins funfair will be on hand as well as the giant water slide which is due to return after a 2 year absence
