John Peel’s Shed is a storytelling show about radio, records and John Peel. It began in 2022, when writer and performer John Osborne won a box of records on John Peel’s Radio One show. This is the story about what happens next. The show was a complete sell out at the 2011 Edinburgh fringe and went on to enjoy a sixty date UK tour, including appearances at Soho Theatre, Sheffield Crucible, The Lowry, Latitude, Bestival and Glastonbury and was adapted for BBC Radio 4, recorded live at the BBC Radio Theatre.
John Osborne writes for TV, radio and the stage, and is a regular at the Brighton Fringe festival. The show’s success in Edinburgh was followed up with Circled in the Radio Times, a show about television and magazines, My Car Plays Tapes, a show about being unexpectedly reunited with his old tape collection from the 1990s, and The New Blur Album, a show made for Radio 4.
In 2015 After Hours, the sitcom he co-wrote with Molly Naylor, was broadcast on Sky 1. It was directed by Craig Cash (The Royle Family) and starring Jaime Winstone, John Thomson and Ardal O’Hanlon.
'John melts the boundaries between spoken word poetry, storytelling theatre and stand up with its sheer warmth, sensitivity and openness.'
