Lorry driver left with serious injuries after M6 collision



Shortly after 8am on Tuesday 7 September police were called to reports of a collision on the M6.

The incident on the northbound carriageway near to Sandbach involves a

HGV which has collided with a bridge. One person is believed to have sustained serious injuries.

As a result of the incident the northbound carriageway is closed between junctions 17 (Sandbach) and 18 (Middlewich).


a number of rail services have been delayed following the incident.

National rail is reporting that a road vehicle had struck a bridge between Wilmslow and Crewe is causing disruption to journeys between these stations.

Services may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or diverted via Stoke-on-Trent.

We anticipate disruption will continue until 15:00.
