Man arrested following Biddulph house fire

A man has been arrested following a house fire in Biddulph.

Police were called at 6.18am on Wednesday (5 January) to Queen's Drive.

Officers attended along with firefighters from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.


Firefighters from Biddulph, Hanley and Sandyford attended as did Staffordshire Police and paramedics.


Upon arrival, crews found a fire on the first floor.


Four breathing apparatus and one hose reel was used to extinguish the fire.


All occupants were accounted for and a woman was treated at the scene by paramedics.





A 21-year-old man from the Stoke-on-Trent area was arrested a short time later on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

He remains in police custody while inquiries continue.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
