Just after 11pm yesterday (Tuesday 5 March), officers on patrol spotted a blue BMW on Werrington Road, Bucknall.

The car failed to stop and was later found abandoned on Ford Hayes Lane shortly before 11.30pm. It had collided with a takeaway business on Ash Bank Road.

A 21-year-old man, from Crawley, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

He has been released on bail while enquiries continue.
