Mardi Gras return to Alton Towers this month
Alton Towers Resort is gearing up for the ultimate escape this May half term as the Mardi Gras inspired takeover returns from 20th May. The carnival style celebration is set to dazzle with high energy entertainment, showstopping costumes and a fantabulous parade for the ultimate street party vibe.
The area around the lake will be transformed into Food Street as guests can experience a variety of different dishes from around the world. For a taste of the deep south, tuck into the gumbo stew with bell peppers, celery and onion, served with spiced white rice; visit the Louisiana hickory smoke train for a mouth-watering BBQ chargrilled beef burger served with hickory spiced barbecue sauce, Monteray Jack cheese and crispy bacon; or enjoy a Po’ Boy sandwich with scampi toasted in French bread with lettuce, tomato and cajun hot sauce mayonnaise.
Soak up the feel-good atmosphere and sip on a refreshing Mardi Gras slush cocktail whilst the Krewes, who are themed to each area of the park and flamboyantly dressed with their own static parade float, will be ‘takin it to the streets’ for some high-energy live entertainment, all in front of the iconic Alton Towers.
Each morning of the event, a carnival King and Queen will be chosen from amongst the guests and crowned during a lavish masquerade ceremony on the Theme Park’s iconic Towers Street entrance. Once anointed, the King and Queen will be treated like VIPs for the entire day with an exclusive VIP package which will include platinum fastracks, food and retail vouchers, entry to the Alton Towers Dungeons, the best seats in the house for the live shows, plus so much more. Guests are encouraged to don lots of sparkles, beads, and colour, the brighter the better for the chance to be noticed and chosen.
Guests will also have the chance to ride the Resort’s thrilling world-class rollercoasters and experience the first-class family attractions.
Overnight guests will also get to enjoy even more exclusive live entertainment, food and drink into the evening, including limited edition Mardi Gras cocktails!
Mardi Gras is the second in a series of thrilliant events this season, with the return of the hugely popular Oktoberfest, Fireworks and Christmas celebrations.
If one day just isn’t enough, guests can extend their stay with an overnight stay at the Resort’s iconic themed accommodation. From the UK’s only CBeebies Land Hotel and Caribbean themed Splash Landings Hotel, to enchanting log cabins and the eccentric Alton Towers Hotel, there are six delightfully themed accommodations to choose from, and with a buffet breakfast, live evening entertainment, free parking and a free round of Extraordinary Golf, it’s the perfect escape for friends and families.
Tickets for the Theme Park start at £36pp and the Mardi Gras experience is included in the price of general admission.
