New director of housing, development and growth appointed



Stoke-on-Trent City Council has appointed a new director of housing, development and growth aspositive progress continues to regenerate the city and secure investment.

 

Carol Gibbs who has been the interim director of housing, development and growth since October 2023 will now take up the role on a permanent basis.

 

Carol who first joined the council in 1994, has over 30 years of experience, knowledge, and skills to lead the ambitions of the council. She has contributed to community wellbeing by working in close partnership with public, private, and voluntary partners within the direction set by the council’s cabinet.

 

Councillor Chris Robinson, cabinet member for housing, regeneration and planning said: “This is great news for Stoke-on-Trent City Council. Carol has a wealth of experience and knowledge of the city and has successfully led many operational developments and different projects during her career with us. She is more than ready for this step up to director.

 

“As we move further into 2024 we have some exciting projects coming to fruition with Carol at the helm. We will be improving transport connectivity and making further improvements to our housing repairs and maintenance, as well as continuing to focus on regeneration sites such as Goods Yard in Stoke, the Spode site and Etruscan Square.”

 

Carol said “I am looking forward to continuing to work with partners and residents to help make a city we can all be proud of. I am incredibly fortunate to have a great team helping to lead the way. I am looking forward to delivering the many exciting programmes and projects in the pipeline.”
