NON LEAGUE ROUND-UP
IN the F.A. Cup first qualifying round Leek Town stormed to victory win over Grimsby Borough at Harrison Park to book their place in the next round . Goals from Stevenson on 45 minutes a brace from Trickett-Smith (55,59) Lovatt scoring an own goal on 65 minutes and Opoku on 83 minutes gave Town a comfortable victory.
NANTWICH Town drew with Shifnal Town 1-1 Bagry opened the scoring for the visitors on 11 minutes, but it was a short lived lead as Nantwich equalised on 15 minutes as Harrison scored from the penalty spot.
HANLEY TOWN suffered disappointment as they lost 3-0 at Cropston Road to Anstey Nomads.
Goals from Blake on 21 minutes, Rose on 23 minutes and Robinson on 27 minutes sealed the tie.
ON Sunday Macclesfield booked their place in the next round with a 4-1 victory over Whickham. Macclesfield opened the scoring on 17 minutes as Curran netted his first of the game and this was extended on 23 minutes with Kengni netting on 23 minutes. Robson pulled a goal back fro the home side on 27 minutes, but Macclesfield were not finished and Rooney on 67 minutes and Curran on 73 minutes sealed the victory.
NEWCASTLE Town suffered a 1-0 home defeat to 1874 Northwich with a penalty from Irlam on 33 minutes sealing the points.
In the North West Counties League first division South Abbey Hulton United drew 0-0 with Ashville and Eccleshall and Alsager Town gained a point each with 0-0 draw also, while Sandbach United gained a 1-0 victory over Cheadle Heath Nomads with the all important goal coming from Booth on 2 minutes.
