People urged to give the gift of independence this Mother’s Day

This Mother's Day, Staffordshire County Council is urging people to explore a world of thoughtful and practical gift ideas, through its assistive technology campaign.

The campaign is highlighting the value of low-cost, daily living aids, as meaningful gifts to improve the independence and wellbeing of mothers and grandmothers across the county.

"Our Mother’s Day campaign is all about recognising the everyday needs of our loved ones, with gifts that will improve their lives", says Mike Wilcox, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Care.

Cllr Wilcox said: "We're showcasing a range of assistive devices that aren’t just thoughtful, but also practical, making daily life better for people.

"Mother's Day is more than just a celebration; it’s an opportunity to enhance the quality of life for our mothers and grandmothers.  Our campaign is here to guide you in gifting not just a product, but independence and happiness at home."

The council is now inviting people to visit the Mother’s Day Daily Living Gifts webpage, a rich resource of low cost gift ideas, each selected for their ability to make everyday tasks easier and more enjoyable.

In addition to the gift ideas, the campaign offers an 'interactive house' feature’, where visitors can explore various assistive products suited for different areas of the home. From kitchen gadgets that simplify cooking, to mobility aids that enhance movement, the range is vast and inclusive.

For those looking for advice, the campaign website also has the ‘AskSARA’ tool.  This user-friendly feature guides visitors in finding the ideal daily living product to match their specific needs.
