Our roving reporters were at Rudyard Lake to see the Queens Baton arrive. Churnet Sound Radio entertained the crowds throughout the afternoon.
The baton arrived by boat from the top of the Lake with a flotilla of boats from Rudyard sailing and rowing clubs and was exchanged to the next relay person at the top of the steps of the jetty. It was then taken along to the Dam where Ray Perry gave a speech welcoming the baton and some information about Rudyard Lake. The baton was then exchanged again on the stage to the next relay person who was taking it to Leek. From Leek the baton went on to Alton towers where it took a vertical free fall drop on Oblivion.
There was a good turn out of people to support the event
