Ruby’s Host Summer SEND Sessions at Congleton Paddling Pool

Congleton Town Council, in partnership with Ruby’s, is pleased to announce the hosting of Summer SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) sessions at Congleton Paddling Pool every Wednesday morning throughout the summer holidays. These dedicated sessions aim to provide families and children with specific needs a quieter and more accommodating environment at the facility.

The private sessions, organised and managed by Ruby’s will take place every Wednesday from 10am-1pm. To attend these sessions, users must register with Ruby’s and book their spaces in advance, as no access will be granted without prior booking. Interested parties can enquire by contacting Ruby’svia tel: 01260 277666 or email: info@rubysfund.co.uk

Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Kay Wesley said: “We are thrilled to collaborate with Ruby’s to provide these essential sessions for families and children with special educational needs and disabilities. This initiative ensures that everyone in our community has the opportunity to enjoy the paddling pool in a supportive and inclusive environment.”

The sessions managed by Ruby’s will operate as follows:

• From 10am-1pm every Wednesday on 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th August

• No access will be allowed unless the sessions have been booked in advance through Ruby’s and confirmation has been received.

• Ruby’s will have a member of staff at the pool to sign in registered members who have booked

• The sessions have a capacity of 45 attendees

• The pool will reopen for general admission from 2pm-5pm. Members of the public are requested not to queue before the 2pm opening to allow a safe changeover

Steph Garner, Programme Development Lead at Ruby’s said:“We’re over the moon to host these sessions and delighted with the positive feedback we’ve received. Thank you to the town council for providing us with this opportunity. The weather was glorious for our first session last Wednesday, and it was wonderful to see our families enjoying themselves so much. We are excited to continue offering a welcoming space for families to enjoy the pool throughout the summer holidays.“

Ruby’s successfully conducted two trial sessions to assess the feasibility of the weekly slots. Although the weather wasn’t perfect for the first session in June, feedback from users and Ruby’s indicated that the trial was a success. Six families registered for the session, which equated to approximately 30 attendees for a session with a capacity of 45. Notably, feedback revealed that none of the attendees had previously used the paddling pool, and 66% of registered members indicated they would not be able to access the paddling pool without a SEND session. Additionally, 100% of feedback requested sessions to be put into place during school holidays.
