SCHUMACHER CONFIRMS PEARSON WILL MISS START OF SEASON
STOKE City Head Coach Steven Schumacher has confirmed that Ben Pearson has undergone surgery on an ongoing and troublesome hamstring issue, which will rule the Potters’ midfielder out of the start of the new season.
The 29-year-old, who joined City on a permanent deal last summer following a successful loan stay, is currently undergoing an extended rehabilitation period following the procedure.
“It’s unfortunate and frustrating for Ben,” Schumacher explained.
“He has been at Clayton Wood with the physios throughout the summer to try and get himself fit for pre-season.
“However, he’s required surgery on his hamstring injury, which we initially hoped wouldn’t be the case.
“Ben is in good hands with the medical team and he now needs to get his head down for the rehabilitation process to give himself the best opportunity to come back as fit as possible when he is ready.”
The former Preston North End and AFC Bournemouth midfielder has made 46 appearances for the Potters to date.
