In a local Derby Staffordshire county Cricket club and Cheshire county cricket club met at Knypersley cricket club.

The match saw Staffordshire exit the NCCA knockout trophy today after they needed to beat Cheshire to survive.

Due to rainfall the match was abandoned meaning both teams gained 1 point.

Due to the superior run rate Cheshire have progressed and claimed second place in group 1.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire county cricket club said

“Torrential rain at Knypersley meant no play was possible in the crucial NCCA Trophy game between Staffordshire and Cheshire meaning Cheshire progress into the quarter finals by virtue of a better Net Run Rate. “
