Stoke-on-Trent Lord Mayor’s charity football tournament returns

Stoke-on-Trent Lord Mayor, Councillor Majid Khan has announced plans to kick-off his upcoming football tournament in aid of his chosen charities Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank, Stoke-on-Trent Aiming High and Savana.
The knock-out style tournament will take place on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Fenton Manor Indoor Sports Complex.
The tournament is open to all and residents, local businesses, charities and sports clubs are all being encouraged to put forward teams of eight to enter the knockout tournament. Entry is £85 per team and individuals must be aged 18 or above to register. People can still sponsor the tournament if they are unable to take part.
Councillor Majid Khan, Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to get everyone together and have some fun on the pitch. I would urge all to enter a team to help raise funds for my chosen, local charities. I can’t wait for the tournament and I’m excited to see all talents around the city, this will be a tournament to remember.”
Sophia Baker, Chief Executive Officer, Savana said: “As one of the Lord Mayor’s chosen charities we are grateful and are looking to continue to support the cause where we can. This event will be fun and accessible for people from across the city to get active and get involved in supporting our charity. The fundraise from this event will make a vital difference to the survivors of sexual abuse from across Stoke-on-Trent that Savana supports.”
Corrine Boden MBE, Director of Operations, Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank said: “As a charity we are reliant on the thoughtful, kind giving of people locally helping us make sure that no one has to face going hungry but can access emergency food. This event is a fantastic community opportunity to support our vital work at this challenging time for many. Our thanks to everyone involved.”
Stoke-on-Trent Aiming High said: “We would like to wish all of those taking part the best of luck with the tournament, and will be eager to come along and watch. The support that events like this provide to charities like ours is imperative in ensuing that our children and their families are able to continue to enjoy a broad range of activities, spend time with their peers and ultimately have fun.”

Trophy sponsor - £50 (Two available)
