STOKE/STAFFORDSHIRE: Plans to demolish WMC and this week’s other applications
A working men’s club could be demolished according to a recent planning application. The club on Ball Haye Green in Leek is said to be beyond repair and could be demolished early next year.
Lucille Green of Ball Haye Working Men’s Club has applied to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council for a determination of whether a planning application is required to demolish the club. Currently the demolition is set to begin on 8 January and will only take 14 days to complete.
The building currently has no roof or utilities going into the building. Once demolished the site will be cleared of rubble and then put up for sale.
The club was first up for demolition in 2021, when a planning application was lodged to build 41 homes on the site. However the proposals faced severe backlash from the local community.
The application form states: “The building was used as a working men’s club. It has been deemed to be a danger to the public by the council. It is beyond repair and has no roof and not utilities going to it”
Listed below are other planning applications published online by councils in Stoke on Trent and North Staffordshire during the past week.
