STOKE WIN, PORT VALE AND CREWE LOSE - CARABAO CUP
STOKE City are through to the second round of the Carabao Cup after a 2-0 victory over a plucky Carlisle United side.
Goals for the Potters for Freddie Anderson on 48 minutes and Emre Tezgal on 79 minutes secured victory after a goalless first half.
PORT Vale are out of the Carabao Cup losing out to Barrow 3-2 on Tuesday night.
Garner put the home side in front in the first minute but Ruari Paton brought the Valiants level on 26 minutes, leaving the score at 1-1 at the break.
Vale then took the lead as Thomas Sang put the visitors 2-1 up on 62 minutes, but Barrow were level eight minutes later as substitute Acquah scored on 70 minutes with Jackson putting the Cumbrian side back in front on 76 minutes to secure a place in the next round.
CREWE Alexandra also went out of the Carabao Cup first round losing to Rotherham 2-1 at the New York Stadium.
The two sides were level at half-time with the score 0-0 and Crewe took the lead on 50 minutes as Matus Holicek scored to put the railwaymen in front.
Rotherham though equalised just five minutes later as Nombe scored on 55 minutes to level the scores and United then pushed on to get the winner on 86 minutes as Odoffin netted for the home side to give them a 2-1 victory.
