A brand new event is being added to a growing markets programme.
Newcastle-under-Lyme Markets is teaming up with “The Makers Market” – one of the leading artisan market companies in the north of England – to offer visitors to Newcastle town centre a spectacular family day out packed full of artisan shopping, music, performance and activities to keep the little ones entertained.
The Makers Market, who run hugely successful markets at the Trentham Estate and many other venues, are bringing an award-winning line-up of local makers, bakers and creators to The Stones on the first Sunday of each month from 11am to 4pm. As well as enjoying the very best food and drink, people can browse unique arts, crafts and vintage stalls whiletaking in the fantastic entertainment.
The countdown is now on to the company’s first artisan market on Sunday, 5 May.
Newcastle-under-Lyme’s historic town centre market is home to general, antique and a range of event markets. It is to benefit from a £390,000 investment including refurbished stalls, an entertainment area and rent-free stalls for traders on Mondays thanks to the Council’s successful bid to the Government’s Future High Street Fund.
Cllr. Stephen Sweeney, Cabinet member for Finance, Town Centres and Growth, said: “I’m delighted that Newcastle-under-Lyme Markets is adding to its growing events programme with a second artisan market, this time run by The Makers Market who have an excellent reputation for the quality of their events.
“Artisan markets provide a unique shopping experience and are really popular with people of all ages, making for a fantastic atmosphere in the town centre on even more days. An added bonus is that parking on the Council’s car parks is free every Sunday throughout the year.
“We’re putting a great deal of effort into making our historic market more vibrant and exciting and it’s events like this, and others such as the Castle Artisan Market, record fair and vegan festival, which bring it to life. I hope residents and visitors come out to show their support.”
Victoria Crane, Event Manager for The Makers Market, added: “We can’t wait to launch the new Makers Market in Newcastle-under-Lyme. We pride ourselves on delivering delightful, specialist events with many award-winning local producers of unique and inspiring goods. It’s a superb opportunity to find out about the origins of your food, meet the maker and fill those shopping bags while indulging in some good conversations with our fantastic traders.”
