This Year’s Poppy Appeal commences at the end of this Month!

The annual appeal for funds to support the work of the British Legion begins on Monday 30th October and the organizing groups throughout the country are gearing up for a busy fortnight culminating in the Memorial Services in Leek on Sunday 12th November.
In Leek stocks of the new “plastic free” poppies are on hand for distribution to shops, offices, pubs and supermarkets throughout the Town, together with the popular Schools Packs which will be delivered before Half-Term.
Local organiser, Bruce Daniel, commented “we have a wide range of insignia for those, who donate to this National charity, to wear with pride, including the traditional pin-on poppy, 2023 enamel poppies, stick-on child’s poppy, andbadges for cars and lorries.
For those who wish to participate in their memorial services there are wreaths, with space for personalisation, and the traditional crosses for grave sides.
Whilst we have a strong body of “collectors” and a list of willing premises to deliver collection boxes to, we would appreciate any offers of help to “Host” boxes and man the stalls in Supermarkets and the Poppy Shop. We don’t want to miss anyone out!
Look out for the stalls in the main Supermarkets, boxes in many shops and offices, and the Poppy Shop in York Street Leek. Otherwise ring 07768368686 to find out where you can source wreaths.” poppies and branded merchandise, or offer to help.
Last year the good people of Leek & Endon donated over £42,000 through the efforts of our volunteers and the co-operation of local businesses, and it would be brilliant if we could achieve the same this year”.
