Three weeks left to get spring Covid booster as NHS rolls out joint appointment booking
With only a few weeks left of this year’s spring covid vaccine programme, Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board (ICB) is urging all eligible people who haven’t yet had their top-up to come forward and get protected before the programme closes on 30th June.
The reminder comes alongside the roll-out of joint appointment booking, which can be done online or via 119. By selecting a joint booking, two eligible people aged 18 and over can get the Covid-19 vaccine in the same location at the same time, making it easier than ever to get protected.
Anyone currently aged 75 and over, or who will be aged 75 by the 30th June 2024, is able to get the covid-19 vaccine, along with older adult care home residents and people with a weakened immune system aged six months and over.
More than 90,000 Covid vaccinations have been given in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent this spring and jabs are still available at vaccination sites, GP practices, pop-up clinics and pharmacies until the end of the month. Walk in clinics are listed on the ICB’s website here.
Depending on the vaccination site, those who have booked a joint appointment may be vaccinated at the same time or may have back-to-back vaccination slots.
From now until the 30th June, there are thousands of appointments available every day across the country, including at pharmacies and GP practices. Some areas also offer convenient walk-in options, with a full list of walk-in sites available online.
Covid-19 can cause severe illness and hospitalisations in some cases, particularly among those most at risk. The vaccine gives the best protection against the virus and its different variants and helps reduce the risk of serious illness.
