PORT Vale suffered a 2-1 defeat to Wrexham in the EFL Trophy at the Racecourse Ground on Tuesday night.


The Valiants took the lead on 31 minutes as Thomas put the visitors ahead, in the second half though Wrexham piled on the pressure and equalised on 70 minutes with a goal from Mullin and they took the lead on 83 minutes as McClean netted the winner.


Wrexham remain top of Group B while Vale remain in second place. Attendance: 7,870


LEEK Town moved into third place in the Northern Premier League west Division as they gained a 2-1 win over Hanley Town.


Hanley struck first with Ofori putting the visitors in front but, Leek were on level terms before the break as Trickett-Smith equalised on 41 minutes.


The home side scored the winner on 73 minutes as Harrison netted giving Leek all three points. Attendance: 582


NANTWICH Town were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Bootle on Tuesday night.


Bootle opened the scoring on five minutes with a goal from Peterson, Smith scored an own goal on 32 minutes to equalise for the Dabbers before Robinson put Bootle back in front on 43 minutes as he netted a penalty.


Nantwich once again pulled it back as Harrison scored on 65 minutes to leave both sides taking a point away from the match. Attendance: 287
