Two arrested after officers find almost 250 cannabis plants at property

Two men have been arrested after we found almost 250 cannabis plants in Stoke-on-Trent.

We carried out a warrant near Brownhills Road in Tunstall just before 7.45am this morning (Friday 26 April).

A total of 248 plants were discovered inside the address, along with equipment used in the production of cannabis, including lights and transformers.

The plants were seized and the property has been secured.

A 34-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

A 30-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the production of cannabis. Both men remain in custody while enquiries continue.

Sergeant Chris Gifford, of Stoke North local policing team, said: “We are continuing to proactively target those involved in drug cultivation across Staffordshire as part of our Operation Levidrome commitment.“Aside from the links the grows have with organised crime groups, there are also significant fire safety concerns linked to cannabis farming and the risks involved in setting them up, tampering with electric supply and maintaining them.“It’s vital that anyone who notices any signs of a potential cannabis grow gets in touch with us so we can minimise the changes of fires happening and proactively target the groups responsible for running them.”
