VALE WIN, ALEX DRAW & CITY LOSE

PORT Vale gained a 1-0 home victory over Reading in league one with a goal from Garrity 72 minutes to gain their first three points of the campaign in front of a crowd of 8,789.

CREWE Alexandra were the comeback kings for the second consecutive week as they came from behind to take a point against Swindon Town at the Country Ground.

Town opened the scoring on 21 minutes with a goal from Godwin-Malife giving the homeside a 1-0 lead at half-time. Swindon extended their lead two minutes into the second half with a goal from Young on 47 minutes to make it 2-0 before the railwaymen reduced the deficit with a goal from Williams on the hour mark making it 2-1 with still half an hour to play. The Alex were level in the 85 minute as Adebisi netted for the visitors to make it 2-2 with both sides taking a point from the game in front of 9,022.

STOKE City made the trek to Suffolk to face the tractor boys at Portman Road where Ipswich had won their previous eleven opening league games and they continued their success with a 2-0 victory over the Potters.

Town took the lead on 23 minutes when Woolfenden netted for the home side and it stayed this way well into the second half when Jackson scored to make it 2-0 and seal all three points as they remain unbeaten in the league after their win at Sunderland last Saturday, while Stoke returned home empty handed in a game watched by 29,006.
