VALUABLE LEAGUE POINTS ON THE LINE FOR COLTS
VALUABLE league points are on the line for the Belle Vue ‘Cool Running’ Colts when they host the Middlesbrough Tigers, in a switch from their regular Friday race night, on Monday, June 17, 7.30pm.
The Mancunians travelled to Oxford just 24 hours earlier where they were overturned 49-40 by the Chargers, after a fiercely contested battle at Sandy Lane.
They now turn their attention to their unfinished business with the WSRA newcomers at the National Speedway Stadium, where three league points are at stake for both sides.
And the pressure is on for the home team especially, who have yet to claim their first league points of the season and are currently sitting fifth of six in the league table.
But with matches in hand over their rivals ahead of them, team bosses are far from hitting the panic button and are confident the best is yet to come from the Cool Running Colts.
The club is particularly excited to welcome back Sam Hagon to home shale, who will be on parade with his British U-21 trophy ahead of Monday’s meeting.
Team boss Steve Williams said: “Middlesbrough make a great addition to the National Development League this year, and the Redcar circuit always produces good racing.
“We certainly found that out on our visit to Teesside a few weeks ago, and on Monday eight points is the winning margin we have to aim for to secure all three league points.
“The only thing our lads could be accused of that day was trying too hard, having to compensate for the absence of Sam Hagon, Freddy Hodder and Luke Muff.
“But thankfully, for the home leg, two of those three are back with us, although we are still without Luke and Harry McGurk, who is unavailable.
“We’ve not doubt that Middlesbrough will be feeling buoyed by their victory over us on home shale, but we’re equally confident of our chances to be able to turn things around.
“It is a big night for the boys, there’s a lot at stake in terms of the league this year and we hope to see as many people as possible turn out to support the boys.”
The Belle Vue ‘Cool Running’ Colts return to the National Speedway Stadium on Monday, June 17 for the exciting conclusion to their contest with the Middlesbrough Tigers, tapes up at 7:30pm.
Meeting tickets, race day programmes and south stand parking are now available to pre-book online at bellevue-speedway.com/events.
