We are launching on DAB in Biddulph, Congleton, Leek and surrounding areas
Churnet Sound radio is delighted to announce that it will be launching onto DAB in Biddulph, Congleton and Leek this month.
The community radio station is ran entirely by volunteers and has operated online since 2021 from studios in Biddulph.
After successfully being awarded a licence to broadcast on DAB in the area by ofcom the station is proud to announce that this will be happening on May 15th.
The station provides local news, information to the local community along with music and entertainment. The stations main aim is to combat loneliness and social isolation across the area by being a friend and companion to each of its listeners.
The station is well and truly at the heart of the community it serves and offers other activities including well-being events across the region.
The station will continue to operate online, on its app and on smart speakers as well as on DAB across the area.
The board of directors said
“ We are extremely delighted to be able to expand our service and launch on DAB this a fantastic opportunity for us and will help the community by having a fantastic local asset. We would like to thank Sarah, Jodie and the team at Biddulph town hall for the opportunity to launch and have our first studio set up in the building and the team at the Biddulph youth and community zone for accommodating us and allowing us to expand our offering with two custom built studios paid for by the national lottery.”
